Microsoft Ads and Bing Ads: what the platform covers and when to consider it
Many buyers still search for Bing Ads. Here is what Microsoft says its advertising covers, and the questions I would ask before adding it to a plan.
People in the UAE who ask about "Bing Ads" are usually asking about Microsoft Advertising, which is the name on the platform's own page. The question behind it is a fair one: is it worth adding next to, or instead of, another channel? I cannot answer that for your business, and I will not guess at audience sizes or costs, because I have no source I could stand behind. What I can do is set out what Microsoft says the platform covers and the questions I would ask.
What Microsoft says it covers
On its own page, Microsoft describes search ads that reach people actively searching on Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and other search engines. It describes display and native ads that run across Microsoft 365, MSN, Microsoft Edge, Outlook and Microsoft Casual Games, video ads across Microsoft properties and publisher partners, and connected TV ads. It lists five campaign types: Performance Max, Search, Display, Video and connected TV, and Shopping. It also says Copilot can help create ad images and text. All of this is from the Microsoft Advertising page I opened on 4 November 2026, and Microsoft may change it.
Set beside Google's own description, which says Search campaigns are text ads on search results that target people actively looking for what a business offers, the search product is described in a similar way by both companies, as the Google Ads campaign types page shows.
What I would ask before adding it
First, does your customer search? If people look for your service by typing it into a search engine, a search channel is a reasonable place to be. The platform pages do not tell you whether they do it on Bing or elsewhere, so I would not assume either way.
Second, can you measure it separately? A second search channel only teaches you something if you can see what it produced on its own. Decide what counts as a result and where it is recorded before you spend, as I describe in measuring your first paid channel and common mistakes.
Third, can you run it properly? Two channels on a budget that fits one will give you two sets of numbers too small to read. My view is that most businesses should get one channel working and measured first. That is a view, not a platform rule.
Where it fits in a choice
Microsoft is one of six channels the paid channel picker lets you score, on criteria you weight yourself. It does not contain any score of mine for Microsoft, so it will not tell you what to do. It will show you how your own priorities add up.
A word about me
This site is published by Web Marketing International FZCO, which manages Microsoft Ads for clients. You can read how I describe that service on the Microsoft Ads management page of my own site. I sell it, so apply the same questions to my advice that you would apply to anyone else's. The wider choice between channels is covered in which paid advertising channel to start with.
